232 LILLA McLURE (1883-1967) PAPERS, 1854-1965.

Lilla McLure was a history teacher at Byrd High School and organizer of the Gayarre History Club at that school. She served as a member of the Historical Committee of the Shreveport Centennial in 1935. She also made many contributions to the Louisiana Historical Quarterly, and was the author of Louisiana Leaders and History of Shreveport and Shreveport Builders. This collection includes correspondence, notes and clippings regarding Louisiana history; a scrapbook on the Gayarre History Club and many publications.

233 HENRY E. LINAM, SR. (1899-1972) PAPERS, 1954-1972.

In 1960, Henry E. Linam, Sr. was a member of a special committee appointed by the Vestry of St. Marks’s Church to study the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States (NCCCA) and that organization’s position on such controversial issues as right-to-work, the seating of Red China in the U. N., communism, racism, the House Un-American Activities Committee, and women in the church. These papers include correspondence, minutes, and reports regarding the committee and its work as well as correspondence, clippings and publications pertaining to various subjects of interest to the committee.

237 W. T. D. DALZELL (1837-1899) PAPERS, 1890-1892.

W. T. D. Dalzell was born on the Island of St. Vincent, June 2, 1837. He was educated at Oxford and ordained in the Church of England in 1848. He came to the United States and after the Civil War married Estelle Logan of New Orleans. He became the rector of St. Mark’s Church in Shreveport in 1866 and served in that capacity until his death on February 5, 1899. These papers include the texts of three sermons, a commencement address and a history of St. Mark’s Church from the Shreveport Times. Also included are ten family photographs.

239 CAMILLE ARMAND JULES MARIE De POLIGNAC DIARY, 1861-1865.

Film 54: 1 reel microfilm

Polignac was a French Army officer in the Crimean War, offered his services to the Confederacy in 1861. He was commissioned as a lieutenant colonel and served on the staff of Generals Beauregard, Bragg and E. Kirby Smith. He participated in the Confederate invasion of Kentucky and was promoted to brigadier general in 1863, when he was assigned to the Trans-Mississippi Department. He commanded the Second Louisiana Division during the Red River Campaign and was promoted to major general after the Battle of Mansfield. He died in Paris in 1913. This diary contains daily entries describing camp life, troop movements, war news, war plans, etc.
