Created by Louisiana State Legislature in 1963 to regulate commerce and traffic within the port area of Caddo and Bossier parishes and to construct and administer necessary physical facilities. Records include creating acts, minutes, correspondence, and newspaper clippings.

093 MRS. MARY MOULTRIE ADGER (1839-1885) FAMILY AND PLANTATION RECORDS, 1866-1945.

Widow of William Ellison Adger and mother of John, Ellison M., and Jane (Glassell). Family lived at "Chicora" on a plantation called Carolina Bluffs, located in a big horseshoe bend of Red River extending to Hurricane Bluff. Includes bills, receipts, farm leases, and memoirs of one of the sons, 1875-1945.

Mayor of Shreveport, 1946-1954, 1958-1970, and former Commissioner of Public Utilities, 1944-1946. This collection contains newspaper clippings, photographs, and magazine articles on his administration and the political, economic and social developments of the city and his last report as Mayor of Shreveport.

096 BENJAMIN C. DAWKINS, JR. (1911-1984) JUDICIAL OPINIONS, 1953-1979.

Federal Judge of the U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana, 1956-1979, he succeeded his father, Benjamin C. Dawkins, Sr. The succession was the first time in U. S. history that a son had succeeded his father as a Federal Judge. Far-reaching decisions made during his tenure and affecting the 5th Judicial District concerned school desegregation and the city of Shreveport’s Commission form of government. Includes 24 volumes of published opinions and 39 files of opinions.

098 GEORGE FREEMAN FAMILY PAPERS, 1849-1932.

Vice-President of Louisiana State Fair, George Freeman was also Chairman of Admissions and Director on Board of Pines Sanitarium, and affiliated with Victoria Lumber Company. This collection includes correspondence, bills and receipts, photographs, newspaper clippings, and published material regarding Louisiana State Fair Association, Pines Sanitarium, and the Bayano River Lumber Company in the Republic of Panama.

099 BOOHER AND MARTIN FAMILY PAPERS, 1824-1946.

Men of the Martin family were politically active in Arkansas, especially Little Rock and Poke Bayou. Milo Booher was a steamboat captain and in 1873 moved to Shreveport where he worked for cotton brokers, Gregg and Ford. The two families were joined together in 1877 by the marriage of William Elliot Martin and Lallie Booher. Papers include family correspondence, land notes, school reports, and related items.
