About North Louisiana History

Centenary College: The historic records of Centenary College, the Louisiana Conference of the United Methodist Church, and the North Louisiana Historical Association. The Archives also house the College’s rare book collection, various manuscript collections, special collections of authors Jack London and John William Corrington, and other materials of historical interest pertaining to the South, to Louisiana, and to Methodism.

Louisiana Tech University: Materials which document the history of the University, Ruston, Lincoln Parish, and North Louisiana.

Northwestern State University of Louisiana: Focuses on the rich cultural, historical, and literary heritage of Louisiana and Natchitoches. The collection spans from French Colonial times through the 1940’s.

Spring Street Museum: Built in 1865 as Tally's Bank, the Spring Street Historical Museum is housed in one of the oldest remaining buildings in downtown Shreveport. Collection depicts the development of Northwest Louisiana. It includes Indian artifacts, documents, maps, firearms, furnishings, clothing, accessories, porcelain, and military uniforms.

Louisiana State Archives: A division of the Secretary of State’s office, it collects and preserves primarily the records of Louisiana government.
